The players were all greeted by torrential rainfall today – so much for our English summer. There were no scenes of hot sun and golden sand to echo the Brazilian roots of beach football. There were however snatches of pure brilliance the likes of which would make even Neymar proud. We don’t usually like to pick on individuals – football is after all a team sport – but Ethan’s “drag back” was so good that even the staff from the other schools were awestruck and spontaneously applauded what they had just seen, nice one Ethan!
The team played well throughout but unfortunately lost every game. They lost to the champions Fosse Way “A” by just the one goal 1-2, lost to runners up Fosse Way “B” again just by one goal 0 – and by Aspire when we were down to four men rather than 5. Clearly the team were competitive – we just didn’t get any luck on the day and we were so close in the games against the top two.
Well done to the lads and thanks once again to Miss R (logistics and 1st aid) and to Alix and her team from Somerset FA.
