W6 Bristol Trip
We arrived at Westhaven full of anticipation ready for our day out to Bristol. The day started with us getting the bus to the train station, then the train to Bristol Temple Meads. The train journey was quick and a couple of games of ‘I spy’ were enjoyed by staff and learners.
Next, we walked into town, following the river to the M-shed. It was exciting to finally be out together somewhere new. On our walk we spotted a shark in the Bristol Channel – but later realised it was just a boat!
We were conscious to fit in all of our PSD outcomes, so we looked out for graffiti, litter, signs of pollution and signs of damage. Bristol was busy, so we took care when crossing roads. We also followed all of the train’s safety rules by wearing face masks and staying behind the safety lines.
We enjoyed a hot drink and cookies in the cafe on our walk to Mshed. When in Mshed we absorbed the cultural displays including some about famous entrepreneurs and local bands. We found the display about the black lives matters protests in Bristol interesting and enlightening.
After the Mshed, we made our way slowly to ZaZa’s. We looked at Millenium Square and realised how beautiful this open space was in the city. One of the highlights of our day was the massive meal we ate in ZaZa’s, we had curry, chips, cake and pasta (in that order!)
Leaving ZaZa’s with a full stomach and a satisfied feeling we (slowly) dawdled back and caught the bus to the train station. It was a great day and we were left feeling both full and tired.
