What a morning, what a morning! Phew, these kids sure earned their Easter Eggs!
The mini marathon was, as the name implies, our micro version of Mr Peacock’s participation in the London Marathon in April. Mr Peacock is running the 26 odd miles to raise money for Weston Hospice. To support Mr Peacock (and to show that we try to raise money for others as well as ourselves) the whole school ran a tenth of a marathon to raise funds for the hospice.
The pupils were amazing and staff from the Hospice and the school teamed up to support the event and did a great job.
We are so proud of the pupils in this school. Well done guys YOU WERE INSPIRATIONAL.
Now everyone needs to go out and collect the sponsorship money over the long Easter weekend and bring it to school before we break up for Easter Holidays on the 1st April.
There was a short interval after the mini marathon for pupils to do their warm downs and have a bit of a break after which it was straight into our next activity for the day – the Big Dance.
In PE lessons this term all pupils have been learning dances to “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham and “Bang-Bang” by Jessie J. The lessons have been going so well that we decided to film the whole school (including some members of staff) doing the dance routines en masse on the playground.
This is what we did after the mini marathon and it went REALLY WELL.
The whole spectacle was amazing and we will post the videos as soon as we can. Meantime enjoy the photo gallery by clicking on the thumbnails.
Wow! This was one of the best days of my teaching career. No joke! Why? Because I witnessed all of our children and staff putting 100% effort into raising money to support our local hospice.
The photos speak for themselves.
This morning. 01/04/2016 the total raised so far is £845!!!! The power of charity is immense and our pupils and staff demonstrated their support of social enterprise in supporting others in need in a wonderful way.
You are all epic people who are leaving your positive mark on the world. Thank you.
Ms Towler.
Well done To everyone At Westhaven School
