I had a lovely visit and letter from someone who was involved with Westhaven a long time ago.
This letter made me realise how important it is for us to work hard and raise funds for the sports hall because it will benefit pupils of Westhaven in ways that we may not ever be able to measure long into the future.
To all at Westhaven School,
A few weeks ago I reached the age of 60 and instead of gifts I requested donations to go towards your sports hall. I therefore enclose £125.
This year my son Paul Forsey will be 36. He left mainstream school at the age of 7 to attend Westhaven. Paul loved coming here and with the help and kindness of everyone her Paul is a hardworking young man.
You found him a part time job at B&Q, they employed him full time when he finished his studies. After some time, Paul left and went to work at Bristol airport assisting travellers who had special needs. By then he had passed his driving test and saved to buy an old car and also moved into a rented flat.
Then Paul left to work for a charity that helps young people to live independently in the community.
At the moment he is waiting to hear if he has his next move as a housing officer for Knightstone Housing working in Bristol and South Gloucester area.
Paul now rents a lovely flat in Bristol and has a new car. All of this is because of the hard work and dedication of your staff.
While Paul was here I became a governor, I was also chair of the PTA and worked as a lunchtime supervisor and kitchen assistant.
I wish you all the very best and would love to see your new sports hall.
Mrs M Tyson
Well! What a lovely letter and kind donation. It is really gratifying that Paul is doing so well now and from your letter a lot of this is down to YOU Mrs Tyson!
We too are working hard to realise the dream of a new sports hall, let’s hope it happens soon.
No sooner had I written the above article but another letter and donation came through the post (brilliant!). This was for £100 from Pauline & Robert Brookes from Keynsham who even organised Gift Aid!
Thank you so much Mr & Mrs Brookes, you have made today a really special day for Westhaven fundraising, bless you!
