Run Throw Jump – Virtual Inclusive Sports day – July 2021
Until the pandemic, the PE department used to run this every year during PE lessons. This year it will be our virtual Sports Day.
The idea is that EVERY learner is involved in EVERY activity.
The three activities are:
- 1 minute shuttle run
- Seated bean bag throw
- Standing two footed Long Jump
The name derives from the fact that Athletics (the sport that Sports Days are based on) is made up of three broad disciplines – Running, Throwing and Jumping events.
Teachers will do this with their group/class in Week 4 of this term (w/c 28 June) which will leave a bit of extra time if we need it before the end of the year to get all the classes done.
They will attempt to do ALL THREE activities with their class in one go.
Each class will produce data forms for the houses: Barrington, Montacute and Tyntesfield which will then be transferred to a whole school database to see which house comes first, second and third. We will publish the results as soon as we have all the results – hopefully at some point w/c 5 July.
Class teachers will then award 3 extra merits to each learner from the winning house, 2 points to those from the house which comes second and one point for third.
Good luck everyone and here’s hoping we can get back to a more “normal” Sports Day in 2022.
