I was born in Weston and apart from my 4 years at university, I have never lived anywhere else! I love living near my family and friends and in such a beautiful part of the country. I joined Westhaven in 2011 and it was the best decision I’ve ever made – fantastic pupils, brilliant staff and a beautiful setting – what more could any teacher ask for?
During my first teaching post in a mainstream secondary school, I realised that I wanted to specialise in SEN education. I then spent 5 years as a teacher in a Pupil Referral Unit, during which time I was promoted to Deputy Head. In 2015, after 4 years of teaching English and French at Westhaven, I became Assistant Head with responsibility for Teaching and Learning. I love the challenge, variety and scope of this new role and I’m excited to be part of the leadership team to help move Westhaven forward in the future.
Hobbies & Interests
I have two sons and love nothing more than going for walks along the sea front while they whizz along on their scooters and bikes. My eldest son is in a football team so I spend most of my Saturday mornings cheering him on from the sidelines!
I enjoy being active and like to keep fit by doing pilates. Having lived in France for a year as part of my degree course, I like to go back as much as possible, particularly at Easter when we take the boys skiing in the Alps.
I am a bit of a chatterbox but I also enjoy listening to what other people have to say. I like being organised and always have a “to do” list on the go – I love the satisfaction of crossing something out that has been achieved!
