Work Experience

Work Experience for Year 11

Year 11 are back at school after completing their second work experience. Feedback from employers has been very positive and encouraging, which is an indication of how the students have developed since their placements in Year 10.

Placements this time included a café, a restaurant, a primary school, a supermarket, a zoo and an animal park, Weston College, a nursery and two of the library/community facilities in Weston.

The students have now all returned more confident and with a greater awareness of what is expected of them in a place of work. They have learnt how important it is to be organised and to learn time management skills.

Diaries have been completed and certificates were presented during assembly on Monday 28th November.

Well Done Year 11 and a BIG thank you to all our employers that have supported us.

Why Work Experience?

At Westhaven we pride ourselves on helping students reach their full potential whilst helping them achieve social and life skills that will stay with them beyond school. Work Experience is a crucial stage in their education and by providing them with this opportunity, allows them to learn the basic knowledge and skills needed in employment, that will help them to continue to progress in the coming years.

Work experience takes place in May/June (Yr 10) and October (Yr 11) and is part of the curriculum.
